Surveys are an essential tool for understanding the complexity of mobility behaviors. Beyond simple flow measurements, Explain designs and implements survey devices that explore the motivations, trade-offs and expectations of users.
Our approaches combine the exploitation of quantitative surveys (household surveys, trips, trips, counting, origin—destination surveys, etc.) and the realization of behavioral surveys (Stated Preferences, field observations, field observations, thematic workshops, thematic workshops, focus groups, etc.). This complementarity makes it possible to link the observed data to individual decision logics: why does a user choose one mode over another? What promotes or impedes modal shift? By combining flow data and behavioral data, Explain offers territories a detailed and operational understanding of current or future mobility practices. This integrated approach informs the design of public policies and adapted services, in line with the lived realities and aspirations of residents. It allows us to set up the virtual laboratories that are our models as well as to feed the best practices that are then disseminated in France.

We combine statistical tools, field expertise and participatory methods. This approach makes it possible to translate users' voices into concrete elements to guide mobility policies and design adapted solutions.
