Optimizing public space for all uses

Roads are a limited space where multiple uses coexist: traffic, parking, active modes, urban logistics. Its organization conditions the fluidity of travel and the quality of life.

A traffic study is an essential decision-making tool for communities and developers. It makes it possible to understand the current uses of public space, to anticipate their changes and to design layouts adapted to the mobility needs of all users. It is based on the detailed analysis of flows of all modes, the identification of dysfunctions, conflicts of use and imbalances in the distribution of public space in order to propose development scenarios reconciling performance, safety and quality of life. EXPLAIN thus supports mobility actors in the definition of planning that ensures a balanced sharing of public space by offering greater space to alternative modes to the private car and thus contributes to making the city more peaceful, more accessible and more resilient.
