
The municipalities of Bruniquel, Montricoux and Cazals, located in the Tarn-et-Garonne, present a remarkable historical heritage and a dense urban fabric, inherited from their medieval structure.
Their tourist attractiveness and the strong preponderance of the car are now generating problems of sharing public space and safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
In this context, Explain conducted a comprehensive mobility study at the level of the three municipalities, based on two components:
Explain made sure to make the process accessible and inclusive, by producing illustrated renderings and educational materials that facilitate the appropriation of mobility issues by elected officials and residents.

The approach allowed the three municipalities to have a shared and documented diagnosis of their local mobilities, and of a clear vision of solutions applicable in the short and medium term.The consultation workshops have strengthened the cohesion between elected officials, inhabitants and economic actors, guaranteeing better ownership of future actions. Explain provided a technical and educational expertise, reconciling flow analysis, urban issues and citizen participation, for traffic plans that are both realistic and unifying.
The method, based on co-construction and multi-criteria analysis, shows that a concerted and structured approach can significantly improve traffic, safety and quality of life in villages with a strong heritage.
